Also, by taking and passing the courses in the health services management bachelor’s degree curriculum and the two related required courses listed, you may be able to earn an undergraduate certificate in health information management and data analytics.

The program is designed to help prepare you for the Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) industry certification exam. The CHDA is a respected health information credential offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Practice Real-World Skills in Your Health Services Management Courses
Throughout your curriculum, your instructors will assign coursework that will help you prioritize real-world skills and experience. In past courses, students have been able to complete the following course projects:
- Create an in-service training video for newly hired healthcare employees. Apply coursework concepts on why managerial epidemiology, decision-making frameworks, and managerial functions are important. Incorporate data, study designs, visual aids and data visualization in the video presentation to help trainees develop effective decision-making skills.
- Analyze and propose leadership strategies within a highly regulated healthcare environment. Tailor these strategies to desired future roles and healthcare setting, considering current and future roles, required managerial functions, and leadership skills to optimize and resource use and address healthcare challenges.
- Develop a comprehensive strategic digital marketing campaign for a local healthcare organization, applying a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis; a value proposition; and marketplace findings to the targeted population.
- Evaluate and assess the economic factors influencing demand in a chosen healthcare industry. Develop a report using key economic concepts to explain the industry’s impact on the U.S. healthcare marketplace in terms of quality of patient care, provider roles, competitive advantage, regulations, and economic impact.

An online bachelor's degree in health services management is a college degree that students can earn online to help them prepare for a career managing within the healthcare field. This 120-credit program covers topics such as corporate healthcare systems, current health trends, healthcare economics, and other aspects of the burgeoning modern healthcare field. The online bachelor’s degree in health services management helps students prepare for work in a wide range of health-related fields, be it in corporations, for nonprofits, or at government organizations.
UMGC’s 120-credit online bachelor’s degree in health services management program courses are offered year-round. The time it will take you to complete your degree depends on multiple factors, including your goals, how many transfer credits you have, how busy you want your course load to be, and whether you are able to benefit from one or more of our fast paths to credit, including credit for prior learning and credit for military education and training.
Tuition rates for the UMGC online bachelor’s degree in health services management are very competitive and appear at the top of this page. UMGC offers a low in-state rate for Maryland residents and a reduced tuition rate for military service members, their spouses and their dependent children. We also offer scholarships for those who qualify, an interest-free monthly payment plan, and no-cost digital materials in place of most textbooks. Upsilon Phi Delta (Healthcare Management)
Upsilon Phi Delta elevates and encourages scholarship, standards, and ethics in healthcare administration. It is available to undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate membership is open to students pursuing a major in health services management. Undergraduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and at least 18 credits of health services management coursework, with a GPA of 3.25 or higher in those courses. Graduate student membership is limited to individuals who are actively pursuing their graduate degrees in UMGC's health care administration program, meet the national eligibility standards of a minimum GPA of 3.5, have completed 18 credits, and are invited to become a member.
