At the undergraduate level, UMGC offers a variety of alternative paths to credit, including credit for prior learning, which allows you to earn credit via Course Challenge and Portfolio. We also offer a way to earn credit for Workplace Learning, which involves setting up a learning agreement with your employer and a faculty mentor and submitting academic assignments related to your Workplace Learning experience.
Depending on your course of study and your experience, you may be able to earn undergraduate credit for prior management experience. You'll want to talk with an advisor about your options, such as enrolling in Portfolio coursework and documenting and certifying the college-level learning you earned on the job.
UMGC offers students ways to earn college credit for some life experiences. Talk with an advisor to see which option or options may be right for you.
At UMGC, we are proud to have served the U.S. military since 1949 and to offer active-duty military servicemembers and veterans ways to earn credit for their service to our nation. We grant credit for study completed in service schools and in Military Occupational Specialties on the basis of recommendations made in the American Council on Education Military Guide. Other paths to credit, like our Prior Learning and Workplace Learning options, are also open to military servicemembers and veterans.
