The six University of Maryland University College doctoral candidates who presented their dissertation work in a recent poster session at Adelphi, were engaging in a time-honored rite of passage for students earning degrees from research-based institutions that place a premium on scholarship.

Experienced teachers, cognitive psychologists, neuroscientists and other researchers already know a great deal about how humans learn, according to UMUC Provost Marie A. Cini.

One sentence, just 45 words in length, proclaims and promises the freedoms that define American democracy. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and the right to petition one’s government.
