Cap Decorating Challenge

Get Your Best Design Ready for Our Cap Decorating Challenge!

You do NOT need to buy a set of regalia to participate in the challenge. Your commemorative commencement Grad Pack—which contains several keepsakes, including a mortarboard cap you can use for the decorating challenge—will arrive in late April. The cap in your Grad Pack is meant for you to decorate!

Please be aware that by participating you are giving UMGC permission to display your cap photo publicly and use it in our commencement marketing. Be creative with your design, but please avoid profanity and other inappropriate language or images.

To enter the contest, you must upload your cap photo (with a tagline, if you desire) to the challenge web page that will display everyone's cap pictures and allow people to vote for their favorite designs. We also encourage you to post your cap photo to your social media using #UMGCGrad.

The design with the most votes wins bragging rights and will be featured in Virtual Stateside Spring Commencement when it premieres on May 15 and in UMGC's social media channels. The challenge begins April 12 and ends May 12, 2021, at noon (eastern time). The winner will be notified by email on May 13.
